The pill
The contraceptive pill is usually called ‘the pill’. If a woman takes a tablet every day, the hormones released into her body will make sure she doesn’t get pregnant.
The pill
The contraceptive pill is a tablet that a woman takes every day. It releases hormones into your body. This prevents you from becoming pregnant.
Missed a pill?
Lots of girls forget to take the pill sometimes. Or they have diarrhoea or vomiting, so the pill doesn’t work effectively.
Skipping or shortening your pill-free week
A pill-free week lasts 7 days. What you do is take the pill for 21 days and then don’t take the pill for 7 days.
Talking about contraception
Safe sex is not just about using condoms. The pill and other contraceptives protect against pregnancy. But how do you talk about it all?
