What is the scrotum?
Your scrotum hangs behind your penis. Another word for scrotum is balls.
Shapes and sizes
The scrotum may look different in different men: large, small, wrinkly or quite smooth, with or without hair. One testicle usually hangs slightly lower than the other one. Sometimes they differ slightly in size.
Testicles
Inside the scrotum are your testicles, small glands where sperm are stored. Millions of sperm are produced here every day.
Semen
The sperm then travel down the vas deferens to the prostate. The prostate is a gland located under the bladder. The sperm is mixed here with seminal fluid. This results in semen. Semen comes out of your penis via your urethra. Semen is sticky and is creamy white in appearance.
Ejaculation
When you have an orgasm, you ejaculate. Semen comes out of your penis through your urethra. We call this ejaculating, coming or discharging semen.
